Best time to Visit Osudu Lake

Opening Time : 09:00:00
Closing Time  :  17:00:00

The century old man-made Ousteri Lake - also referred to as Osudu Lake - is situated about 10 kms from Puducherry town and has been recognized as one of the important wetlands of Asia by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) and it is the most important freshwater lake in the Pondicherry region. The structure of the lake is complex - consisting of water, wetland/marsh and mudflats; it acts as the single largest catchment of fresh water in Puducherry.

Best Time to Visit Osudu Lake:

The months between November and February, when the city cools down and the birds come to roost, are the best times to visit this place. Though the facilities are very sparse, the boat ride in the evening is fun- it takes one to a small island teeming with migratory birds and is a wondrous sight to behold.......

"An Indian Coffee House across the road near Osudu Lake serves excellent pakoras in a cute little garden setting, though the service is rather slow owing to the small kitchen and staff. Overall a nice bird- watching excursion in small- town Pondycherry !"

Best time to Visit Sela Pass

Even though Sela Pass is open throughout the year, most of the websites say "the best months to visit are October, November, March, April and May because there are less chances of the route being snowed-in due to the snowfall."

However, let me tell ya all that the most appropriate time to visit Se La Pass is November or more mid November when you get some snow & bearable cold.

After November it is too freezing to enjoy the beauty. September - October shall be pleasant but no guarantee for snow. In February, Sela Pass remains totally frozen and one can walk on the ice there.

Temperature stats for the best time to visit Sela Pass in the peak season months-
October- 12 degrees/-4 degrees
November- 11 degrees /-9 degrees
December- 10 degrees /-4 degrees
January- 12 degrees /-2 degrees
February- 12 degrees /-4 degrees with rain
March- 11 degrees /-6 degrees

"We visited Sela pass in April 2016 and on the entire road way there was snow and with the mountain stretches looking white and gray (i.e thin snow coverage over the barren mountains). But closer the main Sela Pass, there were deep white snow, Hence you will not be disappointed if you visit in April. The additional bonus, since it is the onset of Summer, the climate is also not that bitter, while you see snow everywhere, yet the climate is pleasant. However be ware, any moment you witness sudden weather change!!!"

Best time to Visit Bumla Pass

The best time to visit Bumla pass will be summers, and too when there's no sign of rain i.e from March to June. The temperature during this time ranges between 5 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. The days are pleasant and nights are colder. Also, you will have to take special permit from Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Tawang District and Indian army cantonment of Tawang.

At an elevation of 5,000 m above the sea level, the Bum La Pass marks the Indo-China border. A prominent attraction of Arunachal Pradesh, the place is a must visit but only when you have the special permit from Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Tawang District, and then Indian army cantonment of Tawang. The place instantly evokes a feeling of patriotism, especially after watching soldiers protecting the border that too in such nerve-wracking weather condition. Also, it was through this pass, Dalai Lama entered India.

Important info:
December is not a very good time to visit Tawang but people do visit Tawang and stay there as usual. The only difference is it will be extremely cold and Sometimes there might be blockage of roads due to Snowfall.

" A must visit place if you're on your way to Tawang, especially during Summers"
